What does Go Disc-Free mean?
Go Disc-Free gives you the ability to transform your collection from discs to digital versions with UltraViolet rights for a fraction of the cost of buying it new.
What are the advantages of Kaleidescape Disc-Free?
What do I need to do in order to receive disc-free offers?
Disc-free offers can be seen in the store based upon the contents of your library, which means that the movies must be imported or cataloged in order to qualify for disc-free offers.
Why do I have to download the digital versions? Why can’t you just unlock my imported version?
Under the terms of our license with the content producers, digital rights to movies are associated with a specific media type. They cannot be applied to the imported version.
Do I get the same version of the title (extended cut, director’s cut)? What about all the extras?
The movie that is offered can be a slightly different version with different extras associated, but all details will be on the Movie Details page in the Store. Click the cover of the movie to view the details.
Why do I see some titles in the Store that I own, but I don’t get a disc-free offer?
Disc to digital upgrades are provided for titles from studios affiliated with the Ultraviolet organization. To provide a digital upgrade the title must meet all of the following criteria:
The list of titles for which Disc to Digital upgrades are available may change over time. For example some titles only allow Disc to Digital upgrades some months after the title is out of theatrical release.
Where is the Kaleidescape Store available?
The Kaleidescape Store is currently available in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.
How is the Kaleidescape Store different from a streaming service?
Movies purchased from the Kaleidescape Store are collection grade, delivered with audio and video quality identical to that of Blu-ray Disc or DVD. Many titles on the Kaleidescape Store also feature bonus material such as deleted scenes, documentaries, production featurettes, and director's commentary. Perhaps most importantly, movies downloaded from the Kaleidescape Store become part of your Kaleidescape movie library and will appear in the onscreen user interface alongside your imported DVD and Blu-ray movies. And of course, you can jump right to your favorite moments thanks to Kaleidescape Scenes and song bookmarks in concerts and musicals.

Why are some Movie Store titles not available for my system?
Some titles cannot be played back on older Kaleidescape players, for technical reasons. For example, certain titles require an M-Class player or later to perform the decoding.
In addition to such technical limitations, each title offered for sale on the Kaleidescape Movie Store is licensed from a content rights owner and comes with terms and conditions to which Kaleidescape must conform. The content rights owner may place a limitation on which Kaleidescape products are eligible to store and play back the title. For example, storage and playback of Disney content is limited to our newest movie player — the Kaleidescape Alto – or to Premiere line and Cinema One customers that have opted in to special terms and conditions.
If you prefer to only see content that is playable on your system, you can enable the Hide Titles I Can’t Play option in the Movie Store.
How do Premiere line and Cinema One customers opt in to Disney content?
Premiere line and Cinema One customers who wish to purchase and download Disney content on the Kaleidescape Movie Store can opt in to a modification of how their system treats Disney content on Blu-ray and DVD optical discs. If you opt in, any Disney content already imported on your system remains exactly as it is today, but no more Disney content can be imported from optical disc. Those discs can still be played from the tray, or if they are placed into a Disc Vault, they will play over the network from the vault to any player in the system.
You can preview the necessary Disney Content Amendment to your Service & License Agreement, and you can see the current list of titles that cannot be imported. We have also posted a video demonstration of the vault playback feature.
To opt in, purchase a Disney title and follow the prompts, or use the Systems tab on the Account page.
What is an M-Class player?
Kaleidescape’s proprietary M-Class architecture, introduced in 2010, is a powerful movie player platform that supports Blu-ray playback and high-definition user interfaces. Kaleidescape’s M-Class players include the M300, M500, M700, Cinema One (second generation), and the Kaleidescape Alto. They are distinguished from Kaleidescape’s earlier players by their ability to play Blu-ray discs and Blu-ray quality content.

If you enable this option, when you browse the Kaleidescape Movie Store, you will only see titles that can be played on at least one of your systems. If you buy a new system or add a new player to an existing system, the Store will automatically adjust the titles you see when browsing.
You can check the Availability information shown in the title's details to ensure that it can be played on a particular system. The Store won't allow you to download content to a system that can't play it.
This option is not shown at all if one or more of your systems can play all Kaleidescape Movie Store content.
